You won’t find lists of the best surf spots in Portugal, wave forecasts, or quick tips on how to stand up on a board. There are already plenty of places doing that — and doing it well.

This space is different.

The Honest Blog is where we share thoughts, reflections, and questions that come from years spent in the ocean, traveling, teaching, and simply living surfing day after day. Some of these topics are inspiring, some are uncomfortable, and some might challenge the way modern surfing is usually presented.

Here we talk about things like respect in the lineup, localism, commercialisation, prestige, ego, and what surfing means beyond equipment, social media, and trends.
