Welcome to one of the most experienced surf schools in the stunning Algarve region, based in Lagos, Portugal. Our story began in 2008 when Filipe, a passionate surfer from Porto, established FilSurf school.  As a result, he brought to Filsurf school his extensive experience gained from surfing for many years all over the world, participating in national surfing competitions, and coaching professional athletes. Filsurf School is a small family-owned business that prioritizes quality over quantity, with no intention of profiting from mass tourism.

We offer both group and private classes

All our classes include:

✓ 2.5 hours class (theory and practice)

High-quality equipment

We give you the best surf equipment of famous brands like "Ocean & Earth", "Rip Curl", and "Mick Fanning". Our wetsuits are always clean and sanitized after each use for your comfort. Furthermore, the cars we use for our students transport are kept clean and safe, making sure you have a friendly and secure environment to learn and improve your surfing skills.

Professional surf instructors/real surfers

The surf instructors of our school have more than 15 years of teaching experience and more than 30 years of surfing experience all over the world.  As a result, with  such rich experience in teaching, they manage to teach students of different levels and ages and even prepare athletes for surfing competitions.

Comprehensive education

Our surf lessons go beyond simply learning how to stand up on a surfboard. Indeed, we teach you to surf correctly from the start, avoid common mistakes and bad habits, read weather conditions, understand wave dynamics, and develop respect for the ocean and other surfers. As a result, you become a skilled and responsible surfer!

Whether you're a beginner taking your first steps into surfing, an intermediate surfer looking to refine your technique, or an advanced surfer preparing for competitions, we invite you to join our surf school! Alternatively, you can simply enjoy a surf session with professional surfers at local surf spots with our surf guiding.

We have a special accommodation offer for the students of our surf school in a stunning brand-new villa, located in a beautiful chill area, just 15 minutes walking from Praia da Luz beach and 10 minutes driving from Lagos.

We Pick You Up

Our surf school is situated near Lagos, Algarve, Portugal. However, we surf on both the South and West coasts, depending on surf conditions. While we don't operate from a fixed physical address, we reserve lessons for you through phone, email, and WhatsApp so you don‘t need to waste your time coming to our place.  Consequently, we facilitate convenient pick-ups for our students from Lagos, Praia da Luz, and Burgau driving to a surf spot that we decide on the day of a lesson. Alternatively, for those who prefer to drive independently, we can meet directly on the beach.

Where We Surf

Situated between the West and the South coasts of the Algarve, FilSurf School has the unique advantage of choosing the best spots for surfing according to the conditions throughout the whole year. As a result, we have access to a variety of surf spots with an opportunity to surf almost every day. We also evaluate the level of our students and choose a surf spot not only according to the surf conditions, but also according to the surf level of our students and the crowdness of the spot.
